Bob Hsiung's Design Portfolio

This was a part of a DOE study on the feasibility of Maglev train technology. The design of the locally commutated linear synchronous motor design we were studying is superior to the concepts being pursued by groups in Japan and Germany in part because of the potential for vertical switching with no moving parts.

I participated in conceptual design and performed the analysis to optimize the geometry of the motor coils.
